Happy New Year! Though its abit late, but this is my first entry of the year 2009!
Came back from the awesome trip at the night of 15 Jan and immediately started my final year project the next morning -_-
Did not really have time to upload my photos neither here nor facebook. Just managed to transfer all the photos and videos into my harddisk this morning. Tomorrow Im meeting my NEW supervisor, together with my OLD supervisor who is leaving to Leeds. Simply unease and unhappy for changing the supervisor in the midst of my project. The day after that will be having poster defence which I'm really weak on it. I just need a pass for this module - Bioethics, just weak in defencing, academically or in real life.
Then, 1000 words of renal disease report needs to be done before Chinese New Year and then I can happily travel to SPAIN on 26 Jan. 4 girls trip. I think it would be nice, putting aside the fact that it will spend more than my SWEDEN trip.
== Post-travelling thoughts ==
I have a lot to share, but due to time constraints, I will have to do it sweet and simple.
Firstly, I start addicted to travelling alone. I have ever heard that you will continuingly travel alone once you started one. I do believe now. It is so free and flexible, though sometimes can be feeling lonely. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the freedom and flexibility greater than loneliness. As you will meet nice friends sooner, just be friendly. Just one concern- You are a girl. Sweden is definately suitable for a girl to travel alone, as it is extremely safe! Simply take simple precautions.
Along the 5 destinations, I only stayed in youth hostel once, in Abisko located in Arctic circle. Apart from this, I stayed in total 3 PhDs' accomodation (2 China, 1 Taiwan) and a master student aka my long known netfriend (Malaysia). He defines PhD as permenant head damage and it really 'laugh die me'. Save quite alot in accomodation, though may spend a little bit more in transportation? May not. Accompanion in night times by these friends really make my trip marvellous!
The trip became abnormal as it went along. Extreme example is the abnormal temperature in arctic circle. It was +3 deg C in my arrival on 10 Jan. Supposingly around -20deg C. It was so warm that I sweated when hiking and so hot (with the heater on, and considerated other hostel-mates) that I couldnt sleep well in the night. It started turning back to normal on the day (13 Jan) I left at -12 deg C. A sign of global warming ??!! Plus, it was raining for the first 2 days. Abisko is the driest place in the north and the annual rainfall is so little that it could possibly rain few days in the year and I have 2 of them. LUCKY?! I dont want it~
It was considerably overly lucky in Sweden. Upon arrival in the Sweden, I started having good fortune. I met a girl who gave me her mobile phone to call my friend when I asked for public phone (Swedish doesnt always appear to be so nice), it gives me snow when I first arrived the city (It wasnt any snow few days before my arrival and it melted when I headed to north), temperature risen to keep me warm in arctic circle ( to thankful or cry?) and tried plenty of swedish dishes on Gotheburg and many!!
Save in eating, sleeping and some tricks or 'back door' :x
I love Sweden so much, it is really land of dreams.
I have no time to write youji this time, which I would love to. Lots of interesting stories to share ^_^
Comparatively, Britain doesnt attract me too much at this moment :x Will I have another sole travel experience before I'm back to my warm country? Cause I will definately do not have a chance to travel alone when I'm back :x
Check the photos out in my facebook! (most probably after 20 Jan...Gosh...Poster defence @.<)
^^^*** Selection of my favourite photos***^^^
The humble palace and frozen lake in Stockholm
My most favourite night scenery in Stockholm, peacefully sitting there~
Heard this is more difficult to be seen than aurora and only happened within the arctic circle. None can tell me the name. I called it day aurora. Was it fire rainbow??!
The day I reached Abisko (10 Jan). Grey raining day at 3 deg C and the lake wasnt frozen completely. Compared with the following 2 photos taken on the day I left (13Jan).
The day I left from Abisko, weather turned back to normal. It was a frozen lake!
Ice hotel
Each room has their very own theme created by designers from all over the world.
With the aid of tripod and timer, I can post whatever I want. Provided no people around, I would take my own sweet time~
