Magnum Mini

Anyone fancy Magnum Ice cream??

While I worked as temp staff in NHGP before I came here, I have been fancy towards the advertisement on MAGNUM, I think the advertisement still in the street, TV and etc... "Im EVA, I cant resist.."

If Im not wrong, it costs about SGD4 for one? Kinda expensive right? So I have never tried...

Its european ice cream, I saw the 6 mini one a month ago, about £1plus (was half price), so i bought it... Tasted the almond one, its really nice... Haha...It makes my stressing day more enjoyable..haha..

Just to share... Its really nice :p

I think nutritionist needs to enjoy her favourite foods once a while too..remember MODERATION in food intake will do :x

Just crap..

Light went off since last night so I did my work last night (mainly blogging.haha) and this morning to complete my critical evaluation of the barly,soluble fibre and cardiovascular disease journal with little sunlight...

After reporting 2times this afternoon, I get my light back! and it is brighter and kinda "whiter" light as all lightings are yellowish in the hall of residences. So crab kinda has green eyes on my light, perhaps she can try to spoil the light and ask them to fix it :x

After attending the clinical dietetics and nutrition tonight (4-7pm which is DARK), I like this lecturer so much, Geff. He is funny and good in making the lesson lively.. Esp when he mentioned about neonate, where the new born baby is having high levels of enzymes upon delivery... The way he described the fantasy of giving birth was kinda interesting.. Baby is being compressed in the uterus and suddenly baby feels the different pressure...blah blah blah...

Food policy is dry. European Union, Commission and the Common Agricultural Policy... I'm not kinda interested on this region..haha..

I only have 10 hours lesson/week, and most of the time is catered for assignments. As the datelines getting nearer I feel I need more times. Fiona (lecturer) was asking if we wanna back to week 3 (week6 now), everyone agreed! haha..seems we just need more time!!!

Why am I so free to blog here, even though i haven prepared my fyp draft questions to be incorporated into questionnaires to be shown to supervisor?? Simply becase of GASTRIC.. Thursday is a long day for me, all the way from 1-7pm... I simply cant have my meal too late and left empty for too long.. Alright, i will get an apple with me next time...

I think im getting better after my typical gastric-tackle way -> putting a pillow below my stomach, it always works. Give me a pillow and bed whenever Im gastic...hohoho...

I'm quite happy for the lighting.. and kinda adapted to the life here, I love the weather where its air-con everyday in the room, but not chilling temp outside... Despite the weather making my face skin problem worsen, im quite happy with the weather....... There are always pros and cons, give me some chance to exercise (need to get £100plus membership to enjoy the sports and gym facility, more reason for me to miss SP) , give me a beautician, a better sleep quality and .... I think im satisfied. hahaa...

Enough of crapping.. Times to think of what to discuss with supervisor regarding my progress of FYP!!! Time is really flying... Its project day again!

Xmas is coming, anyone fancy anything?? I simply need more times, a beautician, a return airticket..hahaa.... ok, I havent thought of any realistic gift, I know travelling always comes first. haha.. not yet planned anything.. though its getting nearer.. Time s up!! FYP FYP... estrogen estrogen.. fibre-disease fibre-disease... poster poster..

Fireworks in Newcastle!

Today (5 Nov) is annual fireworks festival,I think it is around the country as I saw Morrison selling the firework sticks. It just like our lantern festival, seeing and hearing fireworks everywhere, on hands (view first video) or in the sky! Quote my neighbour's msn nick: just like chinese new year :P I have an advance CNY fireworks show?!

After official fireworks launch last for 20min @ city stadium @ 630pm (its dark after 430pm and getting earlier to 3pm in winter!),we walked to Morrison to get our groceries, along the journey, little fireworks still observed until we came out of Morrison, even until now, still hear the sparkling fireworks!

Personally, the fireworks is not the best one i have seen (none of fireworks can beat the 2006 Commonwealth Closing ceremony @ Melbourne) ,but i love one of the xmas-tree-like fireworks..

Stupid bus service and expensive transport

Yesterday (2 Nov) was planning to go Angel of the North by taking bus 21/22 from Eldon Square terminal. Stupidly, the board indicates NO SERVICE on SUNDAY, and for some of the buses too.

We were so fed up but decided to walk around since we were in town. Sunday is really quiet in the town, most shops only open from 12pm-4pm. A typical family day? Passing by ChinaTown and grab little thing, plus finding job, if any vacancies available. Kinda fruitless day despite we found the train station, and spent £24 on 16-26railcard for validity of a year.

Yes, travelling in UK and europe under 26 is always more affordable, but the transport still considerably very expensive.. The earlier you book the ticket, the cheaper. And even different timing costs you differently. Just like checking stock over internet, prices can be flipping.

The most stupid thing is... at 1.40pm, I saw 21 in Grainger street, asking: Is that 21 bus that going to Angel of the North?

Taking few steps forward to verify my doubts, it was bus 21 but it is available in that street on SUNDAY!

UK bus service is stupid, i mean compare with singapore ones. They did not mention in Eldon Square Terminal that there is no service on sunday at that particular end point only... Wasted my whole day loitering on the streets...

So, we gotta plan the trip on coming weekend or any other possible days for 2 of us.

Singapore transport still clear and easy.

Apart from this, they don't mention the price but each timing is indicated, i wonder if the bus does come on time, given plus minus of 10mins? Alright, I haven't taken any public bus so far.. I'm really typical book worm here?

Alright, transport here is really expensive... can cost up to £100 for a return trip to London.. Crazy... but sometimes you can get really cheap price @ few pounds for single way to London.. Plan early buy early and you enjoy the early bird's privilage :p

Planning to go London on Christmas, £60 for 2N,2breakfast, and a full christmas lunch..This has not included train ticket which has kept going up... I think £100 is inevitable for this trip. We still plan to spend our New Year in Edinburgh.. Train ticket is alright but the accomodation has boomed, 16 person dorm needs £50/night when usual price is only £7.50. Reason? Cause it has the most happening New Year Party in UK! and Im fancy for it :p

Easily cost me £200 for both trips ><

一直以为“天涯海角”这个地名是我国的“专利”,谁知道在英格兰的西南角有一个名叫兰兹角的地方,直译过来是“陆地的尽头”,当地的中文旅游手册则称其为“天涯海角”。

兰兹角位于康沃尔半岛的顶端,是一处三面环海的地方。要到达这里可真要费上一番周折。首先需要从伦敦乘坐3个多小时的火车到达英国铁路的最南端,然后搭乘公共汽车穿行于一个个牧场之间,最后再下车步行到达海边的峭壁。在这里,可以找到标志兰兹角的一块白色木牌,这就是英国的土地尽头了。

其实,作为一个岛国,岛屿的所有边缘都是土地的尽头,为什么英国人定义自己的“天涯海角”偏要选择西南的这个角落呢？仔细观察之后,记者发现英国人对“天涯海角”的理解,和来自大陆国家的人很不相同。

中国人提到天涯海角,想到的是旅行者能到达的最远的终点。
而对英国人来讲,天涯海角却是船只远航的出发点。

英国的南部海岸有许多历史悠久的港口,也是英国历史上最发达的地区。其中西南港口最为出名,因为从那里无论航行到欧洲大陆或是美国都比较近。要去兰兹角,需要先到港口城市普利茅斯。不过,老的普利茅斯市在二战中几乎被德军的炮火全部毁掉,今天人们看到的这座城市则是在战后重新建设起来的。由于重建时的原则是“快速和省钱”,所以市容很一般。但是面对大海的一侧却十分壮观,可以看到军舰走着“之”字出海。据说这是因为当地的海底暗礁密布,曲折而行是保证安全出海的唯一路线。实际上,在1588年,一艘艘英国战舰也是从这个地方出发,去迎击西班牙的“无敌舰队”,并且最终树立了英国“海上霸主”的地位。1620年,一艘名叫“五月花”号的帆船也是从普利茅斯起航,载着102名英国清教徒历尽苦难,驶向美洲大陆。这群清教徒成了美国最早的外来移民之一。在今天的美国波士顿附近,还有一个地方叫普利茅斯,就是为了纪念当年清教徒的出发地而命名的。

普利茅斯距离兰兹角慢车只有一个来小时的路程,从地图上看几乎就是沿着大海的边缘在走,铁路两边目力所及之处是一眼望不到边的田野、草地,成群的牛羊和孤零零的乡野别墅。《蝴蝶梦》的故事就发生在康沃尔郡,如今坐拥豪宅的英国人已经很少,而把富余的房间出租给游客过夜的家庭旅馆则到处都是。

在距兰兹角最近的小镇彭赞斯,通往兰兹角的最后一条街道几乎全是家庭旅馆。即使深夜,所有房子的门厅也都亮着灯,主人热情而愉快,完全没有传统英国人的冷淡气息。清早沿着曲折的夹道直奔海边,就能找到兰兹角的白色木牌,上面写着：“距离纽约3147英里。”几乎所有到此一游的人看后都会明白,这里并不是一个正式的港口,但是由于处于英格兰西南角的特殊位置,才会承载远航出发点的象征意义。

兰兹角是以一个相当尖锐的角度插入大海的。三面的白色陡崖屹立在蔚蓝的海中,放眼看去,在海天一色的地方隐约有法国岛屿的影子。即使是大晴天,这里也是风急浪涌、惊涛拍岸,很是壮观。站在兰兹角上远望,想象着当年“五月花”号上的清教徒为了自由和理想不畏艰险的勇气,我的心中也油然升起一种志在远航的豪情。

人生中的第一个双彩虹！

2008年的10月31日真的好难忘！

原来昨天看到的是传说中的double rainbow,双彩虹！

我人生中第一次的双彩虹，却被我忽略了！请注意以下照片．．．

为什么会有双彩虹？

“彩虹的形成是由于空气中的小水滴把阳光经过折射形成的。 当光经一次折射和一次反射后形成的是一个正彩虹。有时，光会形成两次折射和一次反射后也会形成彩虹，不过这个彩虹是反的。 在特殊情况下，也会两种彩虹同时出现，这就是双彩虹。空气中的小水珠把彩虹再反射一遍，第二条彩虹比第一条要淡很多，并且是第一条的倒象。正像称之为虹，倒像称之为霓，也叫副虹。”

“Every once in a while, if you get lucky, you may see a second rainbow on the outside of the first, brighter rainbow. This is the "secondary rainbow" which occurs when raindrops high in the atmosphere refract and reflect light back to the viewer.
These raindrops are higher than those which cause the "primary rainbow" and are special because they internally reflect the incoming sunlight twice rather than just once. ”

31 October 2008!

Last day of October, was a fun and memorable day for me.

Though we didnt manage to get a touch of Pumpkin carving @ Baltic near Gateshead millenium brigde in the noon as planned, but we saw kids carving and start getting some Halloween atmosphere. I heard from my hk classmate who has been staying here for 2o years, that in the night of halloween, youngsters will wear fancy dresses and dropp by houses to knock the door for sweets. If you dun have sweets, they will keep disturbing or scaring you. Since we dun stay in the private houses, we never experience it!

Then headed to Tesco and I found this "I Love You Champagne" from Marmite, it is limited edition, £3, I think it is only available in UK, but I didnt buy cause it is quite a large volume, if i finished mine and it is still available on shelf, maybe I will spend my penny there. haha.

We headed home, suprisingly, we experienced our first frozen rain and a beautiful rainbow across the city, my first rainbow in UK! We stopped by in the tunnel for the rain to stop in about 15min. We were so excited that left things around the tunnel and all busy in capturing the special moment...























London has the first winter snow in last few days but we haven't! I'm looking forward to my first snow here!

Night was happening in REDS bar in Student Union, £3 before 11pm, £4 after 11pm and first 500 with fancy dresses are granted for free admission. We arrived earlier around 930pm, but without paying :p

Other friends arrived at 10pm and the happening night was started...

Halloween is an event for boosting your creativity juice. Lots of fancy dresses such as sexy nurses, doctors, batman, the crown in the batman, pumpkin shirts... LOADS of it.. but I dun have much photos now, let me grab from friends first...

After dancing, i sweat a little and it is a good exercise for me. I slept relatively good last night as compared to previous night.
